Encompassing a large section of Central Newfoundland, the Exploits Chamber of Commerce serves a diverse range of members in several communities. As an award-winning organization, it is one of the largest Chambers in Newfoundland and Labrador.
The Objective
The Exploits Chamber recognized the need to provide additional support to the commercial and retail/service sectors owing to the challenges presented by the Covid pandemic. They undertook a Shop Local initiative and sought a service provider to assist them in developing a website to support their efforts. A key desire was to not only meet the immediate term needs but to create a foundation that would provide ongoing value to the communities they serve.
Our Approach
Digital Fusion’s ShowMe platform was selected for the project and the www.ExploreExploits.ca website was created to meet the Chamber’s objectives. This Regional website with its interactive digital directory and map makes it easy for residents and visitors to discover what is available in the Exploits area.
Creating a master directory for the region also provided the ability to feed relevant datasets to other partner websites as was the case for Grand Falls Windsor – https://grandfallswindsor.com/showme-business-directory/.
A Regional expansion phase will be launching in early 2024. This will greatly extend the content focus of the website to support both tourism and people/business attraction.
The Results
“We have been working with Digital Fusion since we started our Shop Local program several years ago. During this time, we felt that there was an opportunity for a website to provide information as to what our region has to offer tourists, residents, businesses and to promote several sectors such as mining, aquaculture, tourism, lifestyle and shopping local.
Dwight and his team have been very easy to work with and have been a valuable source of help and guidance as our Chamber of Commerce navigates through the process of developing this new website. They have taken a much more complicated task, which we thought would be much easier to accomplish, and broken it down into bite size pieces which we could understand.
They have always been ready to offer their professional advice and direction when needed and to jump on a Zoom call to explain things which we have needed many times.“
