Nova Scotia’s South Shore has always been regarded as an enviable tourist destination and the South Shore Tourism Cooperative continues to be the main driving force behind the promotion of the Region, a catalyst for regional events, and for evolving the area into a year-round destination.
The SSTC required a foundation that would support a dynamic and engaging vision for the South Shore. One that would showcase initiatives and events, integrate digital place-based resources, and promote various packages and itineraries, along with a variety of other supporting features.
Following client and stakeholder engagements, we researched best of breed features and functionality from tourism destination areas around the world. Leveraging the proven WordPress platform, we designed and developed a website to meet the goals of the project and lay a foundation for ongoing success.
Fundamental to this foundation is an advanced digital directory using Digital Fusion’s ShowMe application and custom WordPress plugin to ensure that every tourism related business and attraction on the South Shore can be properly represented and promoted. This directory is an aggregate from seven partner directories to help ensure content remains relevant and current.
A robust Events calendar further extends the website’s value to both local residents and visitors by creating a go-to resource for South Shore festival and event information.
