Graphic Design - Overview
Since the earliest lines etched upon a cave wall, mankind has been evolving the use of symbols, images, and text. Regardless of the advancements, the objective remains the same: to communicate an idea or a message.
A logo is only one aspect of an overall brand but a typical starting place for many businesses and organizations. A good logo will quickly and effectively communicate an impression or trigger recognition in the marketplace. Logos generally consist of an image, symbol, or icon along with a certain typographical element.
Designing for the print medium combines the traditional skills of graphic design with the art of copy writing to create communication pieces that are both visually appealing and effective. The nature of ‘effective’ in this context being largely determined by the goals and objectives of a given project.
